This is a really informative post. I just read an article that talked about how top accounting firms are crowding out the smaller firms making it hard for them to compete in this economy. This is a great post for anyone looking to start a small accounting firm. You give some great advice, especially about keeping up with the latest trends. If a company is up and coming they have nothing to loose from trying out new strategies. Thanks for the information.

Lata thanks for sharing the article. It was an interesting read. I was interested in reading it since I had read the article in HBR and was looking forward to see your perspective on the topic. When I look at my list of colleagues whom I mentor I shamefully admit I have only 1 lady in the list of 5. I believe the mentors have to make a conscious effort to break this stereotype and the ones being mentored should put a conscious effort to come forward. In my opinion the biggest challenge remains in the mind, where decisions are made about whether it is worth investing time on an individual. With your article I am putting in my share of the conscious effort.

Lata, Very useful post and article.
Social media marketing is definitely helpful, it helps drive traffic to your business site and all you have to do is be active and keep posting updates about your business on them. Just like how in the article it is mentioned in the end, with these media tools integrating with one another it becomes even more easy to manage.
So overall my take is yes, social media marketing should be part of your plan.
I use my face book fan page a lot and have integrated that to my twitter account to expose my jewelry shop ; it is very useful. And all this helps in bumping your page up for search engine rankings.

On July 14, 2010, Congressmen Joe Donnelly and Fred Upton introduced the Dealer Floor Plan Program Extension and Improvement Act of 2010, which would extend and improve this program.

The Dealer Floor Plan Program Extension and Improvement Act of 2010 would improve the SBA’s Dealer Floor Plan Financing Pilot Program by:

1.extending the Dealer Floor Plan program for 5 years, until September 30, 2015;

2.increasing the government guarantee to 90%; and

3.giving the SBA the authority to revise the program to address barriers to participation by lending institutions and dealers after consulting with representatives from these industries.
